The show brings in new sectors for the dairy, bakery products and cake and pastry industries

Bta 2015 strengthens innovation and technology in its most international edition

Bta, Barcelona Food Technologies, strengthens its trade fair strategy to construct the most complete event in technology, equipment and machinery for the food industry. Due to take place from 21 to 24 April 2015 in the Fira de Barcelona trade fair venue, the show will be defined by its international participants and will include new profiles aimed at the bakery products, cakes and pastry, dairy and food retail industries.

The next edition of Bta, in Barcelona, will represent the largest trade fair for food technology in Europe in 2015, with a wide range of trade fair products divided into three shows, Tecnocárnica, Tecnoalimentaria and Ingretecno, to cover, respectively, the meat industry, the food industry in general and the intermediate food products industry.

Moreover, and for the third edition in a row, it will be held alongside Hispack, enabling visitors to find the biggest and best range in the industry in terms of packaging and food technology as it displays the different stages of the food product ¿ from the ingredient to the manufacturing process, via containers and packing, and its arrival at the point of sale. It is worth noting that the food industry is the biggest consumer of containers and packing, which means that both trade fairs are likely to assemble close to 1,500 companies and will welcome 35,000 professional visitors.

"Bta is renewing its vocation as a benchmark European event open to professionals with purchasing power, the majority of which are from the Mediterranean and southern Europe," Llucià Casellas, chairman of the show's organising committee, asserts, in addition to the "hugely effective internationalisation programmes, which give rise to a large number of business meetings and generate national and international commercial operations."

New industry profiles

In order to fully meet the needs of an increasingly heterogeneous buyer, Bta 2015 is broadening the scope of its exhibition to incorporate machinery and technology for bakery products and cakes and pastries ¿ technology, packaging, additives, supplementary equipment and industrial refrigeration ¿ for the dairy industry, and to equip stores, retail and specialist food shops. Horizontal services will also be strengthened, such as waste management, industrial cleaning, logistics processes and environmental solutions, among others.

The representation and quality of its exhibition range, as well as the business opportunities that arise from the event, mean that 9 out of 10 exhibitors that participated in the last edition have already confirmed their presence at Bta. 2015 ¿ where more than 500 brands from 30 countries will be on show.

Supporting innovation

Innovation will be one of the core parts of Bta 2015, and will be reflected in diverse activities such as debates, talks, awards and exhibitions to accommodate new ideas and unveil the main industry trends. By virtue of associations and institutions such as Amec, Fiab, Ainia, Acc10, Aecoc, Aenor, Fecic and Irta participating at the show, diverse awards linked to innovation will be held, while the Ingrenova area will be set up to exhibit the most innovative intermediate food products.

Other spaces of interest will be the Innovation Meeting Point, with participation from research centres, consultants, official organisations and divers bodies related to innovation, while the International Business Center will provide real export opportunities for participating companies.

Over 40% of the show's visitors have RDI responsibilities, which in Casellas' opinion confirms that "the show is a platform for launching new technologies for professionals in the food industry."
