INDUSTRY TESTIMONIALS. Bta. and its world.

Representatives and companies in the sector talk about our trade show:

AFCA - Spanish acronym for the Spanish Association of Food Additive Manufacturers and Distributors
Andrés Gavilán (Chairman)
In my opinion, BTA (Barcelona Food Technology) has achieved a degree of maturity and strength which make it fair of reference. At the current time, I believe this makes it one of the most important food industry trade fairs in the world. This is due to the extensive and varied selection of state-of-the-art ingredients and foods, as well as the innovative products and technologies presented, which promise excellent business opportunities for a sector which grows on the order of 15–20% annually.

The selection of innovative products at BTA includes prebiotics, probiotics, superfruits (pomegranate, goji, acai, blueberry, mangosteen, etc.), superplants (aloe vera, ginseng, schizandra, green tea, red tea, etc.), gluten-free cereals (chia, quinoa, amaranth, teff, buckwheat, etc.), essential fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6, etc.), seaweed extracts, mushroom extracts and functional ingredients (vitamins, minerals, phytosterols/phytostanols, policosanols, amino acids, biopeptides, polyphenols, enzymes, etc.), including novel foods.

The layout, exhibition spaces and access to the areas where BTA is located are very dynamic. They are designed to make access easy for visitors and include special areas and spaces which encourage companies to interact and facilitate contact with exhibitor companies. It is also worth noting that Spain's major food technology and food ingredient companies will be at the show, many of them members of AFCA. They know that BTA provides an excellent venue in which to exhibit their latest innovations and establish business relations with companies from Europe, Latin America and the rest of the world.
AMEC - Spanish acronym for the Multi-sector Business Association
Joan Tristany (Managing director)
We are experiencing a change in business models and these changes have also made their presence felt at trade shows. This is where Bta has been successful, adapting to the new environment. Since the last edition, it has been held together with Hispack, offering a strong selection of food and drinks manufacturing products which has increased the quality and number of visitors from Spain and abroad.

Ongoing promotion of the show's international presence, its new and original commitment to innovation, which will make a full range of innovative technology products available to companies, and the participation of all industry agents (companies, centres of knowledge, associations, etc.) make the show a benchmark for the industry and an example to guarantee its success.
Catalan Federation of Meat Industries
Jaume Blancafort (Chairman)
Currently, most economic analysts agree that one of the factors which make companies more competitive is innovation, whether this involves improving the product or improving the process.

Innovation is not an easy task and is a matter that still needs to be addressed by most industries in the sector. Therefore, bringing technology to companies makes this innovation more accessible to them. This is where we believe an event like BTA plays an extremely important role. The show concentrates the diverse range of technology products currently available in one place. On many occasions these are not even known to potential users. Without a doubt this is an activity with significant added value for the food manufacturing industry. In addition, the wide range of products presented at BTA: engineering, machinery, services, etc., result in a diversity which makes it even more attractive.

From the point of view of the food and drinks manufacturing supply side, we should take into account that the major international events in Germany, as well as Paris and Barcelona, also have their counterpart in the technology offerings at events such as IPA in Paris and IFFA in Frankfurt. It is therefore extremely logical that Barcelona should host a technology trade show like BTA, which complements the global success that Alimentaria has already achieved. The food and drinks manufacturing industry is the top industrial sector in the European Union, Spain and even Catalonia. For this reason, having a trade show of this scale as a showcase for the sector is an expression of the importance of food and drinks manufacturing for the economy...
